In 1924, the Imperial Bank built its head office on Apollo Street. Architect TS Gregson of Gregson, Batley & King, which also built Bombay Central Station, Brabourne Stadium and Cusrow Baug, designed a magnificent five-storied basalt stone structure with fretted windows and 16 fluted Ionic columns. The neo-classical architecture featured small windows, a triangular pediment over the main entrance and solid architraves across its facade. In 1955, it was changed to the State Bank of India. The building continues to be used by the State Bank of India.
